Energy This Week
We find ourselves in the midst of the powerful energy of Sirius and the Lion’s Gate. This is a period when the energy can feel intense and overwhelming. You may experience all sorts of things: from physical detox symptoms and vibrations in your body to deep layers within yourself that are coming to the surface to be acknowledged and released.
This energy touches the heart and soul. It can be challenging, but at the same time it brings clarity and insight. Perhaps you’ll come to a profound realization, gain unexpected insights, or even experience a revelation you’ve been seeking for a long time. And suddenly it’s there: the answer, the insight, the moment of recognition.
In addition to the first eclipse of the second round this year, we’ll also be treated to shooting stars this week. It promises to be a week full of power, transformation, insights, and magic.
No matter how old you are, there is an inner child within each of us that continues to believe in the special and wonderful moments that life has to offer. Nothing can be taken for granted, and everything is connected.
Keep looking at the world with wonder, feeling with your heart, and enjoying life as children do. Move with this powerful and playful Leo energy. Stay open to the unexpected and the new. And have confidence in yourself and your abilities. The universe has your back.
Lunar phases: waning moon (August 10–11), new moon (August 12), and waxing moon (starting August 13).
August 11: Mars in Cancer (until September 28, 2026)
When Mars, the planet of decisiveness, action, and the masculine, enters the sensitive water sign Cancer, a special energy emerges. While Mars most wants to move straight ahead, Cancer reminds you that true strength also lies in feeling, receiving, trusting, and taking your time.
This energy does not call for a struggle between the masculine and the feminine, but for collaboration. The masculine brings direction, focus, and movement. The feminine brings intuition, softness, and inner knowing. It is precisely when these two dance together that a form of decisiveness arises—one that does not come from haste, but from a connection with yourself.
During this period, it may feel as though you are not making progress—as though everything is moving more slowly, or as though you must first work through your emotions before the next step becomes clear. Do not view this as a standstill, but rather as a phase in which your roots are growing deeper. Not all growth is immediately visible.
August 12: New Moon + Total Solar Eclipse in Leo
This new moon and solar eclipse in Leo is one of the most special and powerful moments of August.
Eclipses often bring movement to places where energy has been stagnant for some time. They can bring unexpected insights, encounters, or changes that help you get closer to your soul’s path. You don’t need to know how everything will unfold. Above all, this energy calls for trust: trust that what is now fading away is making room for something that better aligns with who you are becoming.
This total solar eclipse in Leo opens the door to new possibilities, after which a lunar eclipse in Pisces at the end of the month invites surrender, completion, and release.
Between these two eclipses, a special transitional phase unfolds. It is a period during which you can sense ever more clearly what is seeking to grow within you, what has run its course, and where your heart is trying to lead you.
Leo is the sign of the heart. It reminds you that true strength does not come from control or perfection, but from love, courage, and authenticity. Now that the South Node has moved into Leo, we are invited to reconnect with the heart’s time-honored qualities: staying true to yourself, no longer dimming your light, letting your creativity flow, and living from joy rather than fear. Not to shine for the outside world, but to let the light that lives within you shine fully.
For many people, this total solar eclipse feels like an “eclipse of the heart.” At a time when the world sometimes feels harsh, divided, and restless, the call to return to the power of love may be stronger than ever. Love for yourself, for one another, and for life. Not as something soft or fragile, but as one of the most powerful energies we possess. It is precisely from an open heart that choices arise that are not only good for you, but also contribute to the greater whole.
A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes exactly between the Earth and the Sun and temporarily blocks the Sun's light. It is a special moment in which the sky seems to stand still for a while. Only a small part of the world can witness a total solar eclipse, while a much larger area experiences a partial eclipse.
The solar eclipse on August 12 is therefore being described as spectacular. The total eclipse is visible only from a narrow path across Iceland and parts of Spain, among other places. In Iceland, the eclipse is even total—a rare phenomenon that will not occur there again until 2196. It is as if the universe itself briefly stops time, so that we, too, are given a moment to turn inward and open our hearts.
In the Netherlands, approximately 90% of the sun will be covered. It is the largest solar eclipse since 1999. In the early evening, the moon will begin to slowly slide in front of the sun, and around 8:10 PM, the eclipse will reach its peak. Later that night, around 3:30–3:45 AM, the peak of the Perseid meteor shower will also occur. This completes the “cosmic celebration.” It is the perfect evening and night for setting powerful intentions and making heartfelt wishes.
August 15: Mercury conjunct Jupiter
On this day, Mercury and Jupiter meet in Leo. This alignment opens your mind and your heart. Where the eclipse planted a new seed, Mercury conjunct Jupiter helps you see its possibilities. Your perspective broadens, inspiration flows more easily, and conversations can bring you exactly the insights you need right now.
This is a wonderful energy for writing, sharing, learning, teaching, or daring to dream bigger than you ever thought possible. Leo invites you to let your voice be heard with confidence and to bring your unique light into the world from your heart. Think big, but stay connected to what truly makes your heart happy.
"What lives in your heart? What is your deepest, most heartfelt wish? And what loving wish do you have for your fellow human beings, the animals, the trees, the plants, and Mother Earth?"
Place your feet firmly on the ground and put your hands on your heart. Feel how your heart is connected to the greater whole. Speak your wishes aloud, feel your intentions, and let them flow out into the world.
