Energy This Week

We find ourselves in the midst of the powerful energy of Sirius and the Lion’s Gate. This is a period when the energy can feel intense and overwhelming. This new moon and solar eclipse in Leo is one of the most special and powerful moments of August.

Eclipses often bring movement to places where energy has been stagnant for some time. They can bring unexpected insights, encounters, or changes that help you get closer to your soul’s path. You don’t need to know how everything will unfold. Above all, this energy calls for trust: trust that what is now fading away is making room for something that better aligns with who you are becoming.

This total solar eclipse in Leo opens the door to new possibilities, after which a lunar eclipse in Pisces at the end of the month invites surrender, completion, and release.

Between these two eclipses, a special transitional phase unfolds. It is a period during which you can sense ever more clearly what is seeking to grow within you, what has run its course, and where your heart is trying to lead you.

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes exactly between the Earth and the Sun and temporarily blocks the Sun's light. It is a special moment in which the sky seems to stand still for a while. Only a small part of the world can witness a total solar eclipse, while a much larger area experiences a partial eclipse.

The solar eclipse on August 12 is therefore being described as spectacular. The total eclipse is visible only from a narrow path across Iceland and parts of Spain, among other places. In Iceland, the eclipse is even total—a rare phenomenon that will not occur there again until 2196. It is as if the universe itself briefly stops time, so that we, too, are given a moment to turn inward and open our hearts.

In the Netherlands, approximately 90% of the sun will be covered. It is the largest solar eclipse since 1999. In the early evening, the moon will begin to slowly slide in front of the sun, and around 8:10 PM, the eclipse will reach its peak. Later that night, around 3:30–3:45 AM, the peak of the Perseid meteor shower will also occur. This completes the “cosmic celebration.” It is the perfect evening and night for setting powerful intentions and making heartfelt wishes.

August 15: Mercury conjunct Jupiter
